Although it is one of Bahrain's most important historical sites, Bahrain Fort really doesn't get near as much attention as it deserves. Although very near to downtown Manama, the fort feels very isolated from the hustle and bustle of the rest of Bahrain.

Although quite eroded, you can still see and get an idea of what the old settlements used to look like. The view from the top of the fort is also a beauty and a bit of a contrast, as one side faces old villages and greenery, while the other looks at the fast rising towers and developments of Manama.

Don't miss out the musuem next to it and the lovely cafe for a sip of coffee while enjoying the sea.

If you are in Bahrain then a must see is the fort. It is located on the seaside and is easy to find.

Don't do what we do though and go on a public holiday as it is closed. Once you get in, there is very nice scenery and it is a good place to take a relaxing stroll around.

I loved the fact that there was an old church next to the old mosque. obviously in years gone by there was tolerance that we never get to hear about.

I visited on an extremely hot day but it was worth it. Recommend it to anyone that enjoys sight seeing.

Bahrain fort is surely the number one place to visit. It is an absolute delight. Because of its location on the coast, the scenes that you can capture on your camera are out of this world.

The fort and ruins are excellent if you are interested in heritage and there is also a small museum with some very interesting artifacts.

It does not take a full day to walk around the site, only half a day. When walking around you can also see all the locals using the site as well, on the site next to the fort they ride their horses there and it is very relaxing just to sit there and watch.

If you want to watch the sunset then go to the cafe which has a north west terrace facing the sea. I was absolutely bowled over by this place and definitely want to return one day.
